Wit the 2010 Winter Olympics in full swing in Vancouver many young minds turn to thoughts of one day becoming a competitor. Even if they do not personally compete they do want to dream of flying around the ice like and angel and a prince.

Marietta, Georgia, one of the more affluent northern suburbs of Atlanta, is not generally thought of as an ice skating haven. While this is true with the expansion of youth hockey into the area with northern transplants and starry eyed young girls and boys enchanted by the figure skaters of the Olympics and other games parents and children alike look for a home for youthful, bladed feet.

Today it is known as the Mariette Ice Center and is located at the same spot where children, couples, teams and anyone has enjoyed skating. The author, in fact, skated at the location as far back as 1972 when the arena was found in the center of the small mall which was located there.

Home to the Atlanta Knights Junior Hockey Club, the Marietta Ice Center has many memories for many people. From holding hands and giggling to learning how to stick a slapshot if you are in Marietta, Georgia the Marietta Ice Center is the place for you.
